Fellowship History

Succurro began as the Fellowship program itself, which was how Owyn initiated her practice combining SourcePoint, BreakThrough, and astrology in working with others, alongside a deep interest in studying Creativity and its source.

The purpose of the program was to investigate the role of Art and The Artist in a time of collapse. Through inquiry practices, use of SourcePoint Therapy, among other practices, the program looks at what Creativity is, and what is its source. How does one awaken this very impersonal energy, and get out of the way enough to channel it into something practical in creating a better world? This question is at the heart of the program, no matter how many iterations the program has taken.

Over 7 years, the program was in an experimental phase — each iteration is described briefly below. We wish for this account to be an honoring of that time of research and experimentation, in gratitude for each person who participated, as the program now moves into a more structured arts-education curriculum.

We will be accepting a new cohort of Fellows for the 2023-24 program. Applications will be available May 20, and due June 30. More here.

ITERATIONS

1 / 2016-2018

The first iteration functioned as the start of Owyn’s practice — a desire to explore Creativity, and it’s impersonal expression through the individual, by offering 1:1 work within a group setting. Each month, participants had access to either free or low-cost sessions, as well as gatherings in her Brooklyn studio. The format was extremely informal over 6-month commitment periods, exploring ritual, discourse on creativity, as well as various methodologies in healing.

Participants:

Shira Schwarz, Claire Comfort, Aimee McLaughlin, Nica Rabinowitz, Alex Labriola, Kayla Carpitella, Yaira Matos, Victoria Manganiello, Jennell Lehman, Katie Bell Moore, Chelsea Amato, Abigail Doan, Eliza Sanchez

2 / 2018-2019

Moving from urban to rural presented both a challenge and opportunity for the program. During this year the program took on more structure, offering an 11-month period of commitment with no monetary exchange. This included individual and group sessions each month, as well as several gatherings at Succurro. The exchange was active participation, commitment to oneself and the group, as well as public sharing of individual process through the website and at the culminating Festival which welcomed over 60 guests to the land, in celebration of, and devotion to, Creativity.

Participants:

Nica Rabinowitz, Alex R. Goldberg, Alex W. Crowder, Linh My Truong, Dawn Breeze, Zaida Adriana Goveo Balmaseda, Elissa Osterland

3 / 2019-2020

This iteration was by far the most structured, following a formal curriculum that offered bi-monthly sessions, monthly gatherings, as well as opportunities for learning the modalities used. This curriculum followed the structure of Order, Balance, Harmony, and Flow. In exchange, participants were asked for their deep commitment to the process, showing up for themselves and one another, as well as writing regularly about their experiences.

As a majority of this iteration took place during 2020, the cohort responded as needed. In person gatherings became full weekend-long immersions online, and the Festival morphed into a final weekend together over zoom, sharing intimately the cohort’s projects that seek to engage collective change.

Participants:

Chelsea Bravo, Tatiana Godoy Betancur, Maggie Herskovits, Pheonix Lotus, Eliot Hetterly, Lauren Geyman, lou elda, zaybra, Rebeccah Stromberg, Isabella Amstrup, Victoria Smolinski

4 / 2020-2021

The program returned to a less formal iteration, as a support during Covid for past Fellows. The structure took the form of monthly online meetings, where participants took turns sharing their creative work through this specific lens, and engaged in a collective process of inquiry/deconstruction around a proposed theme or concept.

While this is not a SourcePoint Therapy program, we utilized the core elements and experiences in such work, as well as BreakThrough — a methodology based in self-inquiry. This specificity allowed for the group to have a common language in creating with a deep focus on Source, and gave both a context and container for working collectively. Participants could join or leave the group as suited their lives.

Participants:

Chelsea Bravo, Tatiana Godoy Betancur, Pheonix Lotus, lou elda, zaybra, Rebeccah Stromberg, Isabella Amstrup, Victoria Smolinski, Jula Heck, Alex R. Goldberg, Sadie Trichler, Chelsea Amato, Zaida Adriana Goveo Balmaseda, Maggie Herskovits, Allie Townsend, Nica Rabinowitz

5 / 2022

In 2022, the Fellowship took on an even more immersive expression, inviting several past-Fellows to live and work on the land in an apprentice-style training period. Everyone invited had already begun training in the practices shared at Succurro, and wished to further deepen their understanding and preparing to become practitioners.

Over 6 month, these Fellows lived at Succurro, creating a learning ecosystem of shared and disparate skills and interests, working on the land, caring for one another, and working with the community by offering sessions and creative programming.

Participants:

Allie Townsend, Isabella Amtstrup, Rebeccah Santa Ana Stromberg, Rich Whalley, zaybra
